KERATOCONUS AND ME by Ashley Winter
We are delighted to announce that Ash Winter, a long time friend of KCGB has published his first book detailing his life with the eye condition keratoconus.
Ash is an inspiration not only to those with KC but to anyone with a life affecting condition – his message is clear- be positive!
We spoke to Ash on the eve of publication about his book and future life goals:
“I have Keratoconus, like many others I’m not “blind”, however a visual impairment no matter how small can cause problems in daily life.
My motivation for this book is sharing my adventures and hoping to inspire others with Keratoconus. Since being diagnosed in 2010 I decided to prove a point and test this condition with a variety of adventures.
An Arctic expedition, Alpine Ski racing and mountain bike races and fund raising activities amongst other things were the ideal adventures for me.
It hasn’t been easy and 8 years after diagnosis I still struggle sometimes, but I felt it important to share my story of what this condition is, how it affects a Keratoconic and what can be done to make life easier”
CONGRATULATIONS ASH! And all the best for the book and your future adventures!
